Damon Cox has spent the last 15 years working in the music business.

As the Music Director of legendary radio station WAPE-FM in Jacksonville Florida, he was instrumental in programming and imaging of the station. While in the position, he won several awards and gained national notoriety by helping break several hit records and artists.

After 5 years at WAPE Damon was approached by record label executives Daniel Glass, Steve Leeds and Monte Lipman regarding joining a new start-up company under the stewardship of industry legend Doug Morris: Universal Motown Records.

As an original staff member of the company he started as Local Regional Promotion Director, working out of Boston and was later promoted to New York City to work out of the home office and cover the #1 media market in the country. After 2 years in New York he was promoted to Vice President where he worked closely with the country’s biggest radio stations and the three major video outlets MTV, BET and VH1.

While at Universal Motown Records, Damon played an integral role in establishing artists of all genres including; Lil Wayne, Nelly, Elton John, Raphael Saadiq, Godsmack, 3 Door Down, 98 Degrees, Olivia Newton John, Jack Johnson, Master P., Boyz II Men, Robert Plant, BBD, Brian McKnight, Tonic and many more. He particularly takes pride in helping get Nelly featured as a performer alongside Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige, *Nsync and Britney Spears at Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.
